  • Remodeling: With fewer rainy days and ideal temperatures during the day, schedule your remodeling projects, including the building of any outdoor living spaces.
  • Plumbing Inspections: In the process, be ready to fix any leaking faucets or pipes.
  • Fixing Concrete: When water leaks through the cracks of your sidewalk, it turns to ice and expands, causing more damage. To keep your driveway, sidewalk or walkway free of hazards, fill in any potholes or cracks in the concrete.
  • Windows: This time of year, check that your windows continue to be energy efficient. If not, see if you can modify them with a low-emissivity coating or consider replacing them for more modern fixtures.
  • Inspecting the Roof: Like your siding, the roof sees shingles curl, crack or fall off, which could indicate a problem with the materials below. Schedule a full inspection by a professional and have any repairs done before the season is over.
  • Check the Foundation: Pooling water and ice can crack your foundation, especially if you also have gutter problems. Once you’ve fixed the foundation, address any structural issues with the gutters before you notice mold buildup in the basement.
